®Two Quark XPress tools make preflighting and the gathering of the parts of a Quark document easy. The Usage utility lists all of the fonts and graphics used in a document.
The Collect for Output feature collects all of your Quark document and graphics into one folder, however the fonts are not included in this command.

Using Fonts
To check which fonts are used in your document, open the Usage utility by selecting Utilities/Usage and then select the Fonts tab. This list cannot be printed so it is best to make a note of which fonts are being used. Note: It is possible here to do a "print screen" command (PC) or Shift/Command 3 (Mac) to do a screen capture to your hard disk, then print the resulting "Picture" file you will find on your Mac hard disk. It is also possible to print a Report. You will need to collect all of the fonts manually after using the Collect for Output feature.

Using Pictures
To check the status and location of your graphics, open the Usage utility and select the Pictures tab. Quark lists all of the graphics imported into the active document. It also lists their type and status. Before you use the Collect for Output feature, be certain that all of the graphics status reads "OK." Quark makes resolving graphic problems simple. If a graphic is listed as missing, select the graphic in the Usage window and click the Update button. Then locate the graphic. If a graphic is listed as modified, select it in the Usage window and click the Show button; this will display the graphic in your layout. Click the Update button and ensure your graphic does not move or change its size. If so, you will have to readjust its position or size.

Collect for Output
The Collect for Output feature makes collecting the graphics and Quark XPress document easy. The Collect for Output feature does not gather the fonts for your document however, remember, that must be done manually. When your document is ready to be sent, select File/Collect for Output. In the dialog box , click New to make a new folder in which all of the files will be collected. When you click Collect, Quark XPress will collect the active Quark document and its graphics into the folder you created. Add your fonts to the same folder and your folder is ready to be sent. We recommend that you use a file compression utility such as WinZip (for PC) or Stuffit (for Macintosh) to reduce the file size prior to sending.
